Civil Engineering is a Professional Engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including Public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.
Civil Engineering can take place in the public sector from municipal public works departments through to federal government agencies, and in the private sector from locally based firms to global Fortune 500 companies.
Civil Engineers are needed all over the world, and therefore graduates who specialize in this field will enjoy high employment rates.
The Laboratories include
The objective of the strength of materials lab is to demonstrate the basic principles in the area of strength and mechanics of materials to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments. The Strength of Materials Laboratory is well equipped with the major equipments like Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Hardness Testing Machine, Impact Testing Machine, Torsion Testing Machine etc.,
The laboratory of Surveying is well equipped with all the required instruments and tools that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of a student. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments. The major instruments of Surveying Laboratory are Theodolite, Dumpy Level, Prismatic Compass, Plane Table, Chain & Tape.
Concrete laboratory provides facilities to conduct basic properties tests on concrete constituents and also all quality control tests on cement, aggregates, concrete (Fresh and hardened state) and Bitumen. The major equipments of Concrete and Highway Laboratory are Compression Testing Machine, Flow Table, Permeability Apparatus, Vee Bee Consistometer, Ductility Testing Machine, Los Angeles Abrasion Testing Machine, Viscometer and Softening point Apparatus.
The Fluid Mechanics laboratory is designed to examine the properties of fluids and to conduct experiments involving both incompressible and compressible flow. The major equipments of Fluid Mechanics Laboratory are Kaplan Turbine, Francis Turbine, Pelton Wheel Turbine, Centrifugal pump, Reciprocating Pump, Orifice meter and Notches and Pipe line Assembly.
Soil mechanics laboratory helps in the study and analysis soil properties. Soil mechanics laboratory typically perform testing for the purposes of determining soil properties for construction purposes. The major equipments of Soil Mechanics Laboratory are CBR Testing Machine, Triaxial Testing Machine, Direct Shear Test and Consolidation Test Apparatus.
Computer Aided Drafting Laboratory allows students to draft and manage a wide range of civil engineering project types, such as site development and road design. The major software’s are AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, STAAD Pro.,
The Environmental Engineering Laboratories support analysis of environmental samples that focus on organic pollutants and inorganic pollutants. The major instruments are Muffle Furnace Hot Air – Oven, BOD Incubator, pH Meter and Turbidity Meter.
